Unexpected Healing | Maple Grove Hot Springs

We often talk about the transformations that take place when we humans sit in silence up here in our mineral pools.

You experience it. We experience it. It's nature-based healing.

Over these last eight weeks, we've been soaking in a very different pace of medicine—a community-based working healing.

For the last 60 days, in lieu of silence and soaking, we've hosted chaos and hustling.

Countless volunteers, friends, team members, contractors, experts, and family have been lifting, loading, running, digging, hauling, building, shouting, laughing, and, at the end of the day, soaking.

We expected to get stuff done. But, honestly, we did not expect to experience the same disruptive healing and breakthroughs as individuals while we were at it.

We've cried together. Deepened relationships between strangers and within ourselves. We've tasted the joy of taking big risks together and seeing them come to life. We've trusted each other, supported each other, and together engaged in the timeless art of community-based creation.

We've long felt like a working solar-powered retreat center that happens to have hot springs, but it has never felt more true than these past few months. Our restoration was born out of this mixing pot of energy and creation and this month was a reminder that our future will always hold space for anyone who wants to dive in, take a look under the hood, and join us in preserving a place we all love. The trade, for all involved, is one of deep transformation.

On Friday, we will begin to softly open back up to a slower way to be on this land, but until then, we are going to savor the last of these long days, quiet nights, and radical moments of celebration for all that comes with stepping into the unknown together.

There is a time for silence and sitting to heal. And, it turns out, there is a time for moving and working to heal too.
