Be Well Workshop - Yurt Raising

Curious what it takes to bring a yurt to life? You'll take part in the distinct phases of raising 3 new yurts on the property! This is a weekend workshop with meals and 2 night stay packages included. Plus, all participants earn a future night's stay in a yurt!

Under the guidance of skilled carpenters, participants will take part in a variety of keys steps related to the efficient raising of yurts. We will learn the basics of pad preparation, deck and platform construction, as well as the assembly and completion of 16 ft. Pacific yurts. 

No previous woodworking nor carpentry skills are required. This workshop is a great opportunity for anyone interested in the following:

•  Is a yurt is an appropriate structure for my own property?
• Is it really possible for me and my family to raise a yurt in a weekend?
• What are the exact steps to prepare a site for a yurt and to effectively and safetly raise one without hiring a professional?
• I just feel like taking a behind the scenes look at what it takes to run and operate an off-grid retreat center. 
• Volunteering and getting my hands dirty sounds like a perfect way to spend a weekend. 
• I just REALLY want to soak in the pools while Maple is closed for a few weeks and lend a hand. 
• I want to meet new and like-minded people and shake things up a bit. 

Given the dynamic nature of weather this season, project pace, scope, and specifics will be subject to snow, rain, and preparatory yurt progress. Part of the experience will be adapting to a real-time, weather constrained work site. Depending on conditions, workshop participants may kick off the experience with progress ahead of schedule, behind schedule, or right on time! 

All participants must stay overnight onsite as part of the workshop. Single day visitors or partial participation is not appropriate for the flow of this group experience. Participant age must be 18yrs or older.

• Working gloves
• Boots, sandles, shoes, rain jacket and rain wear

• Personal tent camping supplies (tent, sleeping bag, snacks) *if staying in a tent site
