About 9,544 hours a year. That's what it takes if we are lucky.
Days like today during wild Winter months like this on an ever-demanding landscape like Maple's could cause one's mind to wonder.
What, really, does it take?
To wonder about the seen and unseen efforts that dance together to make every day seem quiet, restful, and like the 40+ acres of land, water, and spaces that have just been flowing here, patiently waiting for guests to arrive.
At any given point, we are a team of 15. Often, two or three talented hosts hum about before, during, and after your stay.
The shoveling, the pressure washing, the housekeeping, the salting, the wood chopping, hauling, stacking, and burning.
The laundry, the mopping, the re-stocking, re-staging, restoring, repairing, and repeating.
The check-ins and check-outs. The guidelines here and the reminders there. The scheming of events and dreaming of experiences. The planning, the preparing, the doing, and the debriefing.
The catching of critters, cutting of grass, raking of leaves, welcoming of guests, causing of laughter, and shushing of loudness.
And most importantly, the setting, protecting and holding of space.
In short, you might gather, it takes a lot. Of love. And care. And kindness.
And so, on days like today, which is our pool cleaning day, we are reminded that within every small business exists a world nobody sees. A world behind the curtains that makes the core of what you've come to love come to be.
There are many ways to thank the Humans behind any small business you love. Around here, we've found a way to partner up with you as guests to tell our team thanks.
Did you know that we match EVERY dollar you tip? It's our way to recognize your appreciation for their hard work and turn that around as a bonus without limit.
Thanks to you, we are proud to say we paid over $19,000 in employee bonuses last year alone.
Next time you see a smiling face behind that snow shovel, tell them thanks for loving on a place that loves on you right back.
