The Dam- One Year Later

This whole month, the phrase “this time last year…” has been on our minds.

For those who weren’t a part of this community last year, within 30 days, our source pond emptied, our pools dried up, we confronted the collapse of a place we all loved, we closed our doors, we tested our mental, emotional, and physical limits as a team, we experienced the power of real community, we engineered, we scrapped, we hacked, and we screamed. We broke down, we cried, we laughed, and we got back up.

We learned about a threatening new dam, we organized, we disorganized, we froze and we fought and, by this day last year, it was all put back together again as if nothing had happened in the first place all thanks to the magic of strangers, friends, and total blind luck.

And, somewhere in the middle were a few helicopters and a hand full of Hail Marys. All in under 30 days.

A reminder that just as fast as life can fall apart, it can grow back together again. And if you’re like us, you might even emerge on the other side a little bit wiser with skin a lotta bit thicker.

Watch the full story highlights of that month in our profile and get ready to hold on for dear life. You never know what the next 30 days may bring.
