A Call for Gentle Men

Right now, young men are stepping outside into a world that seems pretty content to praise morally bankrupt bullies & billionaires as they plot & pressure & push folks around in a gasping attempt to revive one of humanities oldest stories -

The story of fearful boys hell-bent on patriarchy, power, prestige, pleasure & profit.

We’re faced with a choice - To follow the tired tale of old men or to humbly write in a new direction.

HIS-STORY is an unoriginal one of us vs them. Same vs. different. Me vs. you. A role-based place for him & her without much space for all the others in between.

The tired ideas of dominance over discipline, control over care, loyalty over love gasp a dying breath.

Everything is for sale & nothing is for sacred. If you fear it - fire it, mock it, sue it, steal it, ban it.

Retreating from the sunrise of a more equitable society, it begs us TO FALL ASLEEP while a diverse world proudly WAKES UP.

Same story, new suit/hat/podcast alongside new generations of men asking themselves the age-old question-

Do I wade into the unknown of a changing world or do I retreat to the comforts of a system familiar & old.

On this shore, we wade in, we stand as Gentle Men.

Our strength is not found in the subjugation of what we don’t understand but in the service to our fellow man.

We listen slowly, think curiously, & act thoughtfully. This grounded man is unbothered & unafraid of strong women, queer couples, foreign friends, trans youth, global love, changing times & softer hearts.

Gentle Men cry, lose, surrender & need help. They laugh, achieve, accomplish & support. They are infinite versions of who they alone choose to be. They are you, they are me.

But they are not AFRAID. To all you gentle men out there, fear not to loudly offer a softer version of what it means to be a man amidst the mood of tragically toxic masculinity.

Stand tall, move softly, persuade gently.
