Resist, Become, Be

When change is in the air, resistance is in the waves.
When the world around us declares a conflicting set of changing values, choices, and attitudes, resistance plays a role. But when? Where? How? And to what?
Resistance to change is rarely the path forward. Once change is afoot, the world we know today is already being remade right before our eyes. Adaptation then, becomes our key.
But an adaptation boldly immune to acceptance.
We resist by remaining true to a vision, to our values, to a different path forward. We resist by being curious about what we do not understand. By loving. By learning. By leading with, and towards, a kinder direction.
Just when the pace and force and farce of change feels like too much, too fast, & too cruel to bear is precisely when resistance must rise.
Rise against the urge to give up. Against the loneliness of a quiet defeat. Against the sense that nobody will listen, care, or come.
To resist is to BECOME what we value and gently BE in the world around us. To not shrink in the face of winds we don’t understand, but TO RISE like surging WAVES that know no end in sight. To BE what we stand for, over and over and over and over and over yet again.
To resist is to remember. To remind. And to unapologetically repeat.
Let us adapt in the face of change but let us reject what we are told to become.
And to get started, join us this Friday, 2/7 at 5 PM for a lighthearted 1 hr artwork with Making Waves & @saveourgreatsaltlake at the Utah Capitol.
Together with fellow hot springers and lake facing activists, we’ll support a family friendly species walk to close out the weekly legislative session. All participants will walk away with a free pass as a thanks for rallying for our watershed.
